Hi everyone and welcome!
My name is Laura Mitchell and I am the Founder/Creative Director of Merimoi Press–a Minneapolis based stationery and illustration company. I've decided to start a blog to help our customers and following get to know us a little better and provide a window into what we do! If you’re looking for information not only about our business, but on the latest trends relating to art, illustration, stationery and how they can come to fit within your lifestyle… you’ve arrived at the right place!
To start, here's a little bit about myself:
• I am a self-taught graphic designer and illustrator living in Minneapolis, MN with my lovely husband, Eric, my 3-year-old Great Dane, Georgie, and our 3-month-old daughter, Mayna.
• I have an irrational fear of butterflies..and really anything that has wings and can fly near me.
• I have worked with artists and illustrators for years before deciding to pursue a career in art myself. I previously worked as an Art Consultant and Gallery Director at a contemporary art gallery downtown Minneapolis and as an Art Director at a Children's Educational Publisher–both dream jobs!
• I love anything pastel!
• I started out designing and illustrating wedding invites for friends. After a few years of doing side work and with the encouragement of those close friends and family, I left my dream job (wouldn't be the first time...more on that later) and decided to take a leap of faith and start my own stationery and illustration company. Currently we specialize in custom illustrated paper products for all occasions including anything from wedding stationery to holiday cards to nursery art. Check out some of our latest products!
